Welcome to the Privilege Authority Community

PrivilegeAuthority is a product from ScriptLogic that allows administrators to elevate privileges for specific programs, windows features or ActiveX controls, without running every user as an administrator.

Privilege Authority provides a powerful, flexible way to tighten overall security on a workstation, without preventing people from doing their jobs. It is available from scriptlogic.com and other popular download sites as a Professional edition and a free community edition.

Professional edition includes additional security capabilities and technical support from ScriptLogic. This community is for all Privilege Authority users to collaborate, brainstorm new elevation rules, share rules with other users, and provide bug reports and enhancement requests back to ScriptLogic.

Privilege Authority 1.2 Beta is now available! In this release we have added the ability to test rules after they have been created. This will help troubleshoot issues when trying to get rules deployed and working.

To run a test, select a rule from within the Privilege Authority Console and then the test button in the toolbar, or the context menu. A series of checks are made to confirm that the rule has been deployed via Group Policy correctly and then you will be prompted to launch the target process of the rule.

You can download version 1.2 beta from this link:

Also, here you can read and step through an example on how to create and test a Privilege Authority rule:

Please let us know any suggestions you have about these new features as we are still improving them and hope to have further updates soon.

Thanks,
George Plummer
